Elias Pelcastre

Dude, where’s my Twitter background?

I personally update my Twitter account with posts made on eliaspelcastre.com.

While checking my Twitter account @eliaspelcastre I noticed that my cool “bear with glasses” background had disappeared.

I did some research and found out that Twitter posted the following:

We’re removing background images from the home and notifications timelines on the web for all users. Now, background images are only available where logged-in users will see them publicly (Tweet pages, list pages and collections pages). You can find help center content about customizing your design and where it’s visible on Twitter here.

So, as it turns out, there’s no way to get your background picture back. Of course, you can use one of the lame pictures Twitter provides on the setting section but IT’S NOT THE SAME.

Image backgrounds used to give Twitter profiles a more personal feeling. Now everyone’s pages will look the same… And there’s nothing that we can do.

It looks like the white bird social network hates individuality. I mean, why would you delete this feature? This makes no sense at all (probably photos used to take a lot of Twitter’s server space).

Have you noticed the change? Are you angry about it? Let me know in the comment section below
