Mobcrush, a mobile game streaming app for iPhone and iPad

Twitch has a new opponent: Mobcrush. Although it is not as official as you would like.

Mobcrush is available on beta for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. By “not official” I mean that to try it you have to install the app through Safari.

Mobcrush is an app that streams and enables you to broadcast live gaming sessions from your mobile device and computer.

To try it all you need to do is to the Mobcrush website on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch and tap on the blue “Install the iOS app” button.

Safari will ask you if you would like to install Mobcrush. After you accept, it will start downloading as a normal app from the App Store.

To open Mobcrush you need to trust the app by tapping the “Trust” prompt.

Game streaming app for iPhone

On the main screen, Mobcrush displays new and popular gaming sessions. On the left side menu you can either look for a video or start broadcasting yourself a gaming session.

To broadcast a session you need to sign up for a free Mobcrush account and download the Mac alpha software. Mobcrush “will be giving members the ability to stream from their phones and tablets overtime”.

I watched user IDRAGON play Minecraft. You can listen to the broadcaster’s voice, follow them and join the conversation.

Every broadcast displays the number of viewers it has and a “heart” button to like their streaming videos.

Mobcrush may not be reinventing the wheel, but I liked the app’s ease of use. You can jump right in and start viewing live videos and – in the case of Mac – broadcasting your gameplay.
