I love music, but sometimes I don’t know the origins of the band or artists I’m listening.
Expedia UK, a branch of the American travel company, wants to test you musical and geographical knowledge with a game.
World of Music is a “geography test with a twist” where you “race against the clock to pinpoint where geographically named bands are actually from”. That’s the tricky part.
You get the name of a band and have to select their country of origin on the map. At the time of writing this article, I got Berlin and pointed and drew the mouse to Sweden (not Germany) just to find out they were from Los Angeles.
The game asks you to be as precise as possible and point to a band’s city of origin. You do this by clicking on the “+” button on the left side of the screen or getting closer or away with the mouse’s scroll wheel.
You get more points if you select the correct city than if you just pinpoint the country. To make things more interesting, you only get two minutes to make a choice; and you can share your scores on Twitter, Facebook and Google+.
The website displays an iTunes button, in case you liked the band and want to buy their songs online. World of Music is very entertaining and tests your music knowledge on the spot; play it after the break and let me know your thoughts in the comment section
