Socializer, a new Samsung messenger intended to compete with WhatsApp

Facebook-owned WhatsApp registered 800 million users in April. No wonder why Samsung wants to get some of that share.

That´s why the South Korean company just released Socializer, a new messenger alternative that adds extra “social” features to make chatting with family and friends more fun.

Socializer is based on Telegram, another messenger app available both for Android and iPhone, although Samsung´s version is only for Android devices.

To start using Socializer, you need to provide a mobile phone number. Once you do, you will get a verification code. Socializer instantly identifies the code and directs you to the home screen.

Your Telegram – in case that you already use it – conversations will automatically appear on your Socializer home screen. Tap on a thread to start using third-party games and apps without leaving Socializer.

Games include Minesweeper, Annex, and Memo Together; while you can share “hot” YouTube videos and share voting polls to decide where to go or what to eat.

Socializer also includes more “normal” features like a sharing button to send your location, an image or a video, as well as a set of emoji icons to make your conversations more appealing.

You can download Socializer for devices with Android 2.2 or later. Please leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
