ProTube was one of the first apps to support picture-in-picture YouTube videos in iOS 9. It worked fine until recently when it no longer let users watch content in one of the iPad’s corners, or at least that’s what it seemed.
Before you only had to tap the home button while playing a video on ProTube and it would keep running in the back. That way you could browse the web or write an email, to name a few tasks, and continue watching your favourite music videos in one of the screen’s four corners.
Now, tapping home and exiting the app only displays a black window that instantly disappears. Well, apparently ProTube still offers picture-in-picture, you just have to tap a different button to activate the feature.
Play a video in ProTube and you will notice a down-facing arrow in the top right. Tap on it and the video will reduce its size to a small window, and all you have to do now is press home to exit the app.
Your video will keep playing in a corner, and you can move it around the screen with your finger. That way you will get to enjoy a YouTube video while reading an eliaspelcastre.com article ?
ProTube also enables you to keep playing the audio in the background, or while your iPad or iPhone´s screen is locked. It has a $2.99 price tag, which is worth if you love YouTube and don’t want to spend $9.99 on YouTube Red monthly subscription to enjoy the same features, minus the picture-in-picture playback on iOS.
