Netflix, YouTube and FilmOn are some of the big video apps to lack support for iOS’ background feature, picture in picture. And while you can’t use the latter to watch live TV in a corner and multitask, there’s still one simple trick at your disposal.
Head to FilmOn’s mobile website using Safari. Select a live channel and tap the picture-in-picture button on the frame of the video – it should be on the left side of the resize icon. You will see the broadcast relocate to one of your device´s four corners (it usually moves to upper right-hand corner, but you can drag it with your finger to your selected area.)
Remember that picture-in-picture is only available on the following iOS 9 devices:
- iPad Pro
- iPad Air 2
- iPad Air
- iPad mini 4
- iPad mini 3
- iPad mini 2
Now you will be able to send an email, browse the web (just don´t close FilmOn´s page), and play a game while watching BBC News or any number of international channels. Did you find this tip useful? Please leave your comments in the section below.
