How to set a sleep timer on Google Play Music for iPhone and iPad

Google Play Music listed a new update on the App Store that includes a redesigned search bar and a sleep timer. The former to “help you find the right music faster” while the later to “turn the music off automatically when the time is up.” (Plus, there’s a fresh new Play Music boot logo.)

While the redesigned search is straightforward – tap the magnifying glass icon and look for an artist, track or album in your library – setting the timer requires a few extra steps.

First of all, you will need Play Music 3.9.104 to use the enhancements. Head to “Settings” in the left corner, and you’ll notice a “Sleep Timer” tab. Tap on it and you’ll be able to set a time in hours and minutes, a great feature for when you want music to help you fall asleep.

The feature, which seems to be absent from Android devices, works like a charm; set the timer for a minute, and the song playing will stop as soon as the clock hits 60 seconds. You can later resume playback right from where you left.

Now you can play a “Night Night” tracklist and avoid having to stand up and turn off your iPhone or iPad when you´re about to hit dreamland. Did you like Play Music’s new addition?
