If you have bought films on iTunes you know you can only watch them on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac. The same goes for content you get on Google Play, you need an Android device to watch them on the go.
We just found Movies Anywhere, a website that brings all your film purchases together and lets you watch them on your desktop or mobile browser, no matter what brand it is. Movies Anywhere enable you to watch films you bought on iTunes, Play, Amazon Video, and Vidu.
All you have to do is connect to the “retailer” to access your films on the “My Movies” tab on the top menu. We connected our iTunes library and just saw 17 of the over 30 films we have purchased – as you can imagine, Movies Anywhere doesn’t have an agreement for each and every title you may own.
The cool thing about Movies Anywhere, apart from accessing your movies wherever you are, is that you get 5 free titles when you sync two retailers. You can’t download them, but it’s nice to have The Lego Movie, Big Hero 6, Ice Age, Ghostbusters, and Jason Bourne as part of your library.
We have to make it clear that the service is only available in the US, but you can use a VPN to register and get your free content. What do you think about Movies Anywhere? Leave your comments below.
By the way, I just used the service on my Mac’s Safari without a VPN. Apparently, you just need to fake your location to create an account, not to stream movies.
