Popcorn Time now streams directly to your browser, even on a smartphone or tablet (Update)

Let’s put aside the debate over the legality of Popcorn Time; the torrent-based movie service is a great way of watching films that haven’t premiered (and probably will take ages to come) on Netflix or any paid solution.

Many people are put off the idea of downloading an “illegal” app on their computer – Mac or PC –, Android smartphone or tablet, or even an iPhone or iPad due to privacy concerns. You let Popcorn Time in and who knows what really goes on behind “the curtains”.

Now accessing Popcorn Time is easier than ever. All you have to do is open a website on your desktop, or even mobile browser and you get instant access to a world of films. No need to register or download anything.

Browsepopcorntime.xyz lets you use a clone of the popular – and dodgy – movie service straight in your browser. It doesn’t matter if you’re on a desktop or mobile device, like an iPhone or Android tablet.

The website isn´t optimized for mobile devices, and you will get an enlarged and desktop version of Popcorn Time. Nevertheless, once you tap on a movie, it loads even quicker than the “official” software.

Remember that you can’t download films. You can only stream content, so be careful when using a cellular network – you could end up using a lot of mobile broadband, and paying a lot of money.

Who knows how long will Browsepopcorntime last. Hollywood won’t like the idea of an easier way to watch pirate films without the need for jailbreak or questionable installations. So you should try the website before it’s gone.

As expected, the site has been taken down. Developer Milan Kragujevic has said he will bring back Popcorn Time for the web soon. I´ll update the post when that happens.

Update 2:

Milan Kragujevic shut down the website.
