This game wants you to make Malcolm stay in the middle

Malcolm in the middle was a TV series that ran from 2000 to 2006, where Malcolm the “genius” and his dysfunctional family get into all kinds of funny situations.

Even though the show ended seven years ago, developer Alec Robbins wants to keep the nostalgia alive with an “official licensed computer simulator.” Available for computers, as well as mobile devices, “Malcolm in the Middle” is a basic but addictive game that you can play on your browser right away.

Head to the website, tap start, and try to keep Malcolm in the middle. What? To keep Malcolm on his feet, you need to avoid him crashing into his older brother Reese, who’s in front, and getting hit from behind by Dewey, Malcolm’s little brother.

You get Malcolm to slow down or walk faster by pressing the left or right arrow keys on your computer, or by tilting your tablet or smartphone sideways. “Malcolm couldn´t stay in the middle,” says the game if you lose, followed by “Life is unfair”, the end of the show´s theme song.

Malcolm in the Middle displays a score on the top right; that lets you know how good, or bad, you are at keeping Malcolm in the Middle. I didn´t get too far, as the game starts very fast once I tap the “Play” button.

I bet Malcolm in the Middle could easily compare to addictive mobile games like Flappy Bird or Dots. What do you think? Did you like this basic game for mobile devices and the web? Please let me know in the comment section below and thank you for reading us!
